  • 49 kW peak consumption in winter before optimization

Maintenance of equipment especially refrigerators, HVAC, coffee machines is a challenge.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION RESULT AND SOLVED PROBLEMS

  • Install sensors that measure energy consumption of all major equipment
  • Install sensors that control key parameters – temperature, humidity, CO2, luminosity, refrigerator temperature, number
of customers, hot water temperature etc.
  • Connect all major equipment except for technology– HVAC, refrigerators, hot water boilers, coffee machines, lighting – to the Energy Droid controller
  • Install Solar PV
  • Replace UPS with a battery energy storage system (optional)
  • Set up the digital twin

Typical cost of the system Eur 4900 excl. Solar PV and storage
  • Without Solar PV (lite version) the system typically has a payback period of less than 2 years
  • With Solar PV a 3–4-year payback period can be achieved.

Withing the lite version we typically retain 50-70% of the saving for investment payback and cost of maintaining the system
In an Energy as a Service, we can provide the customer with a 3-5% discount to the current cost of power and achieve a 30% return on the investment
The customer also receives several benefits some of which can be charges as a separate product:

GAS STATION NANO-GRID — HOW IS WORKS?

Reduce power consumption (avg 18%)
  • Biggest reduction is achieved for HVAC and de-ice systems (up to 50%)
  • Refrigerators have a significant optimization potential. Refrigerator
  • Lighting control without dimming saves up to 20%. Dimming can save more but requires additional investment and has long payback periods.

Use all opportunities for energy storages
  • HVAC, refrigerators, hot water boilers can be used as energy storage devices they represent around 60% of the total gas station power consumption
  • UPS and reserve diesel can be replaced with an energy storage device. This option becomes attractive when EV charging is considered
  • Using the storage options allows to reduce the bill by another 5-10% depending on the market rules and tariff plan.
The Energy Droid uses the energy stored to optimize Solar PV operations – energy is stored when output is high and used to cut residual peak.

HOW DOES IOE HELP SAVE ENERGY?

By expending the services provided by our platform to other area including predictive maintenance, support of unmanned technologies and EV charging will allow create significantly value that can be created for the customer and become a strategic partner. Currently energy is just 8% in the gas station cost. However, the platform can address issues for 70%+ of the costs and help increase sales for EVs.

Transportation electrification
  • EV charging requires high capacity 100-200 kW that is usually not available at existing locations
  • Gas station face competition from other retailers who can also offer EV charging
  • EV charging takes longer than filling you tank with gasoline so the customer must be kept entertained
  • Therefore, non-fuel related services will become even more essential and a convergence between gas stations and other retiail and services will occur.

Unmanned retail technologies
  • Unmanned technologies in retail become a key competitive advantage. Implementing this technology for gas stations that are stand-alone building often in remote locations requires maintaining climate and equipment control.
